Have your say

RES believes in meaningful and productive consultation, and we aim to engage early with the local community and key stakeholders in order to facilitate constructive consultation. This helps to identify issues and concerns, as well as benefits and opportunities, which we can then consider when developing the design of the proposal.

Our Public Exhibition in March 2026 follows on from previous exhibitions held in September 2023 and June 2024.

At the Public Exhibition in March 2026 we presented our updated design for Glenhead Solar Farm, which incorporates key changes as a result of ongoing site surveys and feedback we received in June 2024.

Feedback from the local community is important at this stage of our pre-application consultation before we prepare to submit and we would be grateful if you could take the time to fill out this comment form with your feedback. Please provide feedback by Thursday 16 April 2026

Please note that comments submitted to RES at this time are not representations to the determining authority (Strategic Planning Directorate Department for Infrastructure). There will be an opportunity to submit representations to the determining authority should an application be made.

3. Local benefits

We firmly believe that solar schemes should provide meaningful benefits locally. RES will work with the local community to gain feedback on their priorities so that Glenhead Solar Farm will help to secure long-term economic, social and environmental benefits. This approach will help to deliver a tailored package of benefits that are aligned with the local communities’ priorities.

If consented, and if appealing to the community, RES has committed to launching our innovative Local Electricity Discount Scheme (LEDS) which provides an annual electricity bill discount for properties closest to the solar farm. The scheme is eligible to all residential, businesses, and community buildings (schools, community halls, places of worship etc) with an electricity meter.

Some other examples from communities that we’ve worked with include improvements to village halls, sports team sponsorship, funding for schools and local community groups, community defibrillators and improvements to local footpaths and/or signage.
