PUBLIC EXHIBITIONS - JUNE 2024

In September 2023, RES presented preliminary plans for the proposed Glenhead Solar Farm located approximately 2.5km southwest of Limavady. Since then, we have been refining and improving the preliminary design, which would continue to sit sensitively within the existing landscape whilst maximising its generating capacity to meet the challenges of increased grid costs and enable clean, renewable electricity to still be delivered at the lowest cost to the consumer.

In June 2024, we brought forward our preliminary plans for a re-designed scheme comprising up to 80MW of clean, low-cost solar generated electricity and an energy storage system of up to 100MW to help increase the flexibility and generation opportunities of the site. The site is not expected to exceed approximately 195 hectares including all infrastructure, site tracks, landscaping and substation compound.

As part of our pre-application consultation, we held a public exhibition in the local area, on Wednesday 26th June, to share more information about the project and to enable people to provide us with their feedback.

The public consultation initiated a consultation period run by RES to gather comments on the preliminary proposal. The closing date for comments was Wednesday 24th July 2024. Comments will still be accepted after this date but may not be considered in relation to the design development. Please contact us for more information

Please note that comments submitted to RES are not representations to the determining authority (Strategic Planning Directorate Department for Infrastructure). There will be an opportunity to submit representations to the determining authority should an application be made.

We have also launched an Online Public Exhibition.

Please watch the video below to find out more information on the project and the next steps.

All information provided at the public exhibition is available to view below. Hard copies of the exhibition material is available on request, please contact us for more information.
